Video // Strange Attractor

I discovered this gem on a blog this week and I haven’t been able to get it out of my head. The song is SO infectious. It’s an ear worm I’m pleased and happy to have. I’m so happy to bring you Animal Kingdom.

Animal Kingdom band

Animal Kingdom (UK) aren’t new to the music scene. They released their first album in 2009, but I unfortunately hadn’t heard of them till this month. They released their latest LP “The Looking Away” on May 8. Their video for the infectious single I was talking about above is just as good as the song itself. Simple, unexpected, and the attention to detail (the reflection in his eyes? You’ll see) is incredible. Take a look, and make sure to buy their album on iTunes.

Happy Friday!

Event // Eat | See | Hear

My summer happiness will never end. I know in LA it seems like we live in an eternal summer, but its towards the end of May that ALL of the things start happening. I’m SUPER excited about this new event I just found out about. It’s sponsored by Fandango, and it’s called Eat|See|Hear.

Santa Monica Events

This event is all about the senses. Each Saturday, Fandango pulls together the best food trucks, movies, AND musicians and creates a huge night out of it. And it’s never in one place. It’s a big, traveling, gypsy style trifecta of fun. It kicks off THIS SATURDAY in Santa Monica with the movie Anchorman and local LA favorite Islands. Check out their rad music video below:

This Saturday, they’re playing one of my favorite comedies, Anchorman. It’ll be a night of laughs and movie quotes! Admission is $10, or you can get VIP style seating for $20. Check out more about the event here.

Are there any other fun summer style events I should know about or feature here? @reply me and tell me about a good one!

Spinning // Reptar

I’ve got some fresh music to get your Monday started. This was my soundtrack to the weekend. Sunroof open, friends in the car, driving down Sunset all the way to the PCH, and right up to Malibu… THIS was the perfect soundtrack. I bring you REPTAR!

Named after that one dinosaur from the 90’s show Rugrats, Reptar absolutely kills it. They have a killer vibe. Don’t take my word for it. Take a listen for yourself! Their entire album, released on May 1, is streamable below. Just make sure to buy it on iTunes after you fall in love!

Spinning // Beach House – Bloom

Beach House - Bloom

Baltimore natives Beach House just released their 4th album on Sub Pop.  At first, I wasn’t sure if I quite understood this duo, but upon a second listen I sort of fell in love. The dreamy pop album is the perfect album to listen to when the sunset sun hits your skin when you’re driving home after a long day of work. It’s the perfect album to listen to when the sun is rising, and you’re still awake with your best friends, drinking champagne and laughing about the previous nights events. It’s absolutely intoxicating.

You can buy Bloom on iTunes.

Check out my favorite track, Luzuli, after the jump!

Runaway Projects Presents // Dancing On My Own – Stevie Scott

So Stevie has released our latest collaboration with her. This was so much fun to work with Stevie on! It’s a cover of one of our favorite Robyn songs, Dancing On My Own. Stevie took the song and made it incredibly beautiful, and rather haunting. This version is bound to stick. Tin Tran directed this video, and it’s exactly as Stevie and I envisioned it. Take a look, and see the rest of Stevie Scott’s “Time & Time Again” series after the jump!

Spinning // Now, Now

There is SO MUCH good music happening right now. Today, I’m bringing you Now, Now.

The band Now, Now

Coming straight from the Midwest in Minnesota, this enthralling band has been recently touring with The Naked + Famous, and is set to hit the road with fun. this spring. Their newest album, Threads, was released March 6 and has been getting some major buzz in the blogosphere. This isn’t anything new to them, however, as they toured with Paramore when they were known as “Now, Now Every Children”. Threads brings a more mature sound, more mature lyrics, and a more mature audience. Enjoy!

FOR FANS OF: Death Cab For Cutie, The Joy Formidable, Eisely, The Naked + Famous

Music Video // Drake ft. Rihanna – Take Care

I’ve been playing this song for months. Jamie xx produced an absolutely incredible piece of music for Drake, and the video is just as gorgeous. Check out the just released music video for “Take Care” below!

Does the video do the song justice? I think so!

Spinning // Delta Spirit – California

Youth knows no pain in the new music video by Delta Spirit. In this incredibly cinematic piece, Delta Spirit shows a different and edgier side to young kids living in California. Late nights, light flares, and lots of liquor are common themes in “California”. Check it out below!
